Catalonia has a notable geographical diversity, taking into account the relatively small it is their territory.
The geography is influenced by the Mediterranean coast to the east, with 580 kilometers of coastline, and the large reliefs of the Pyrenees to the north.
Inside, in the area of Lleida, there is a large central depression. The mountain separates the interior littoral coastal areas although these, in the province of Girona, are dominated by a coastal mountain range.
Catalonia enjoys a Mediterranean climate, although with large variations in temperature between the coastline, with a mild climate, warm in winter and very hot in summer, the interior has a continental Mediterranean climate, with cold winters and hot summers, and the mountainous areas near the Pyrenees, has a high mountain climate, with minimum temperatures below zero and heavy snow in winter, annual precipitation above 1,000 mm and less hot summers.
